BDI Designer Wins Two 2015 ASFD Pinnacle Awards

DC, Press Releases, Virginia BDI

We are delighted to announce that BDI’s lead designer, Matthew Weatherly, was recently recognized with one of the industry’s highest honors at the Fall High Point Furniture Market. The Corridor Bar 5620 and the Sequel Wall Mount Desk 6004, both designed by Matthew, each won Pinnacle Awards for their innovative designs. The American Society of Furniture Designers’ (ASFD) Pinnacle Awards promote design quality and recognize furniture designers within the retail home furnishings industry.

The popular Corridor Bar provides a complete bar solution with storage for liquor and wine bottles, stemware, glassware, and all of the supplies that a fully stocked bar needs. With Corridor’s louvered hardwood doors and black, micro-etched glass top surface, the bar provides a solution that is both striking and functional.

A versatile office solution, the Sequel Wall Desk can be positioned at any height (seated, standing or stool-height) to create a convenient workstation. Attaching securely to the wall with a simple mounting bracket, the desk features a micro-etched, black glass work surface and multi–function keyboard/storage drawer.

“BDI continues to be on the forefront of innovative home furniture design and we are honored to be recognized by the ASFD for these two designs,” said Bill Becker, BDI’s CEO & Design Director. “It’s important for us to create designs that not only change the way people use home furniture, but also fulfill unmet niches in the market. With Matthew’s collaboration, these designs offer consumers a feature-rich, forward-thinking solution for entertainment and home office spaces, which made them ideal recipients of this prestigious award.”

The Pinnacle Awards celebrate designs that are produced for sale to consumers through retail stores, not craft products or products produced in limited quantities. This year marks the award’s 20th anniversary. Judging is done by a Jury of 12 industry professionals and is based on certain criteria of design excellence including Form and Function, Innovation, Retailer & Manufacturing Benefit, and Consumer Benefit.
Please join us in congratulating Matthew and the entire BDI design team.
